Last year (2022) was the first time I attended the US Open and it was great. First time I had a honey deuce and found out about the Amex Lounge and the free stuff and services they give. Every year you go, you add the knowledge and the “what to knows” so that you can improve you experience next year.

So I went this year…twice. I went to the second round at Louis Armstrong to get “cheaper” tickets for courtside seats. I got to see Taylor Fritz, no 9 in the world up close. I got re-sale tickets for Louis Armstrong court side seats for the second round for about $167. Not bad. Tickets for the quarterfinals in Arthur Ashe in the south side nose bleeds were $67. I really enjoyed both experiences. I think I enjoyed since the action up close since I was able to truly appreciate how hard they hit and appreciate their athelticism more. However, $167 is pretty steep. It’s also nicer to see more famous players and higher ranking players. So it’s quite a tradeoff and you can’t predict who’ll you’ll see.

All in all I think I’d try to get tickets earlier for Arthur Ashe at the promenade levels: may be the Round of 16 or the 3rd round. But I also didn’t stay in the stadium for that long. I got bored. So maybe the cheapest is worth it towards the later rounds.

Second Round; Louis Armstrong Stadium; Fritz (9) vs Varillas (74)
Quarterfinals; Arthur Ashe stadium; Sabalenka (2) vs Zheng (23)
Quarterfinals; Arthur Ashe stadium; Medvedev (3) vs Rublev (8)

Things to remind myself for next year or repeat what I did:

  • amex lounge (free shoe cleaning, La Roche-Posay products, metal straw, theragun massage)
  • sign up for the chase lounge EARLY (I registered for the waitlist on August 25 and it was too late obviously); can bring three guests, should check as early as Aug 20
  • the overlook was nice but its ~$2500 pp
  • bring food so you don’t have to buy overpriced food
  • sign up for the Amex offer “spend $100 get $10 off”
  • Honey deuce is $22 each; the frozen one tastes better and has enough alcohol to get me tipsy
  • Try Round of 16 or third round
